Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Giralang Primary School.

Giralang School is an ideal size for a primary school, being small enough to get to know everyone and build strong and supportive relationships.  Our vision statement – Adventure in Learning, Caring and Achieving - is practiced and actioned in all that we do.

The school philosophy supports composite classes.  The education program at Giralang School caters for a wide range of student abilities and seeks to optimise the learning of all students.  We run extension classes to support more able children as well as a very effective Learning Support Centre for children with an identified learning disability.

Literacy and Numeracy are the foundations of the education program which encompasses the eight key learning areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society and the Environment, Technology, Japanese, the Arts, and Health and Physical Education.  Thinking skills and social skills are actively taught. 

We are a Health Promoting School.  We implement a wide range of programs to support student health and wellbeing.  These programs are both class based, eg. specialist sports that include Gymnastics and Tennis as well as whole school initiatives like the Walking School Bus and Health and Harmony Day.

Giralang preschool is co-located within the primary school building.  All students form a close and caring relationship with the preschoolers.

Giralang School has a very active P&C Association and a strong and decisive School Board.
