A warm welcome awaits all new and returning enrolments throughout the school year.


Students who live in Giralang (the school’s ‘priority enrolment area’) have automatic enrolment at the school. Children from outside the priority enrolment area may be enrolled at Giralang Primary School providing the school is able to maintain appropriate class sizes in accordance with departmental guidelines and policy.


To enrol, simply pick up an enrolment form from the front office.

It is government policy that the following documents be sighter prior to enrolment:
• Original Birth Certificate or extract
• Immunisation records
Children must have turned five by April 30 of the year to enrol in kindergarten enrol.
If transferring from interstate or overseas it is helpful to have a written report from the previous school.

New Parents To The School
All new and prospective parents/carers are encouraged to meet with the Principal or Deputy Principal and have an individual tour of the school (contact details). This provides an opportunity to share information see the uniqueness of this school, so that parents can make informed decisions about enrolling their child.
 
Special arrangements apply to enrolments in the Special Education Learning Support Centre.  Please contact the school for further information.

Kindergarten
Children are eligible to enrol in kindergarten if they turn five years of age before 30 April in this year.  Each year an orientation program is arranged by the school for children who will be starting primary school in the new year.  A special program is designed that nurtures children in successfully making the transition to primary school.


Information Sessions are held for all prospective parents/carers.  Programs and procedures for the start of the new year are outlined at these Information Sessions.  The Kindergarten Information Booklet, containing information to help parents/carers and our Kindergarten students transition successfully into Primary school, is explained and distributed.  Parents/carers are encouraged to come for an individual interview and have a tour of the school.


Kindergarten children usually start school the day before continuing students.  The P & C arrange a Welcome Morning Tea for Kindergarten parents/carers on their first day of school.  This provides an opportunity for parents to get to know other Kindergarten parents/carers and to get support from others during this very important settling-in time.
