Student Support

Small Group Program (SGP)

Giralang Primary School has various programs for students who meet Disability Education criteria which may include Learning Support,  Inclusion Support Program (ISP) or the Small Group Program.  This includes small groups of students that receive specific literacy and numeracy intervention, at the point of need by specialised teachers.

The Small Group Program runs five days a week in a designated classroom space that has been resourced to meet a range of additional needs.  Teachers design individualised programs to meet the needs of each student whilst working collaboratively with the year level mainstream team. All students are part of a roll group and participate in all aspects of the curriculum.

EALD (English as an Additional Language or Dialect)

Our EAL/D program supports children who have English as an Additional Language or Dialect to learn English and be able to successfully access and engage with the curriculum.

All classroom teachers play a vital role in the EAL/D program. The EAL/D teacher is a resource person who can assist the classroom teacher. Both teachers are involved in co-planning to meet the specific needs of students.

The EAL/D teacher maintains contact with parents to assist them in understanding the learning process and class program arrangements.
