Giralang Preschool is located on site at Giralang Primary School. We boast a fully landscaped outdoor environment which includes a huge sand pit, water pump, a large vegetable patch, fruit trees and a purpose-built traffic centre.
The Preschool has its own entrance which includes a large family room that families can utilise both before and after school to shelter from the elements and to access:
- parenting resources
- the current Preschool Program
- student portfolios
The indoor learning environment has a fully functioning kitchen, internal courtyards, a variety of flexible learning spaces, preschool sized toilets and internal access to the main school building.
The Preschool holds excellent resources that support student investigations and rich learning experiences. These resources include toys, equipment (both indoor and outdoor), books and educational resources, audio-visual equipment, a range of bikes and a purpose-built playground.
The Preschool is able to access all facilities within the Primary School. Benefits of this include weekly visits to the school library, weekly access to a specialised gross motor muscle development program, access to excursions, whole school performances, athletics and cross-country carnivals, whole school assemblies - the Preschoolers even host an assembly!
Giralang Primary has developed a strong transition program from Preschool to Kindergarten. Activities such as visits from 'buddies' in a mentoring program and a comprehensive kindergarten orientation program. The orientation program includes transition visits to the kindergarten classrooms at the end of Term 4 and a parent information session to assist with a smooth and easy transition from Preschool to Primary School.
